oldphoneDuring the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, my family and I were fortunate to have a tour of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building (EEOB) which is the massive old building next door to the White House in Washington, DC. As we walked through the various rooms and offices in this funky building, my twelve year-old daughter got my attention:

“Look, Dad, phones have really changed a lot!”

As she put her iPhone down on the desk next to the antique phone and grabbed my iPhone to take the picture, it occurred to me how the dramatic transformation of the telephone parallels the evolution of Digital Parenting, which underlies the approach of my iParent 101 course. Poignant irony that my tween daughter pointed it out to me, but as telephones become more complicated so does our parenting challenges in the digital world.

Hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving!
