5 Instagram Tips/Conversation Starters
- When you follow someone on Instagram, your mutual friends or followers can see who you follow. And when you visit someone’s profile, you can see who you follow that also follows that person.
- The “follow ratio” is a concept of having your number of “followers” be greater than your number of “following”. Some people even unfollow accounts to maintain a higher number of followers than the accounts they follow.
- Instagram has recently introduced a new feature called “You’re up to date!” that tells the users when they have reached the end of all the new content in their home feed. This helps users learn to regulate the content flow on the platform.
- Users can make their accounts private, which means they have to approve all the people who wish to follow them. This creates a safe space where only approved followers can access their photos and shared content.
- Each post on Instagram has an option to mark where the photo was taken or posted using the device’s GPS. This location-sharing or geolocating feature can connect people, and it can also reveal personal information to strangers. If a public account includes the location, anyone else who uses the location can see the post and the location, which can lead to privacy concerns.
