iParent101 is looking for undergraduate and graduate students who are serious about child development, digital wellness, and education advocacy. This is a hands-on role with direct access to a clinical psychologist, a small focused team, and a summer’s worth of real work you can point to.
About the Role
iParent101 is a DC Metro-based consultation company focused on the impact of the digital world on children, families, and education. Founded by a clinical psychologist with over 20 years of experience, the company works with parents, schools, and organizations nationwide to promote healthier, more intentional relationships with technology.
The founder is completing The Regulation Gap, a book for parents and professionals on why children struggle with screens and what adults can actually do about it. This internship puts you at the center of that launch.
We are looking for a motivated undergraduate or graduate student to join us this summer. A core focus this summer is education and public advocacy: helping parents, schools, and communities understand what the research actually says about children and screens. You will work directly with the founder to build campaigns, create content, and expand the company’s reach across social media and education communities. You will also collaborate with our Content Coordinator and other interns as part of a small, focused team. You will leave with a body of work, including a capstone project completed at the end of the summer.
This is an unpaid internship, 20 hours per week, running June through August. The position is hybrid, based in DC Metro.
What You’ll Do
Social Media & Content
- Draft and edit copy for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, and YouTube
- Shoot and edit short-form video content tied to company initiatives and the book launch
- Monitor and manage social channels on a regular basis
- Track weekly analytics (engagement, reach, follower growth) and summarize findings
Education & Advocacy
- Help develop content for parent and school audiences grounded in current research
- Support outreach to community organizations, school systems, and professional networks
- Assist with campaigns designed to educate and shift public conversation around children and screens
- Contribute to the iParent101 newsletter, helping research, draft, and edit content for parent and professional audiences

Research
- Monitor relevant blogs, forums, and publications in digital parenting, child development, and education
- Identify trends, emerging findings, and audience insights that can sharpen content and advocacy strategy
Capstone
- Design and complete an independent project over the course of the summer: a research paper, advocacy campaign, content strategy, or comparable deliverable that reflects the work you did and what you learned. You will take the lead on it from start to finish.
What We’re Looking For
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, continuing studies in the fall
- Relevant academic focus: psychology, education, public health, communications, marketing, or a related field
- Strong writing skills: you can translate research and clinical ideas for a general audience without losing accuracy
- Hands-on experience with short-form video editing (CapCut, Adobe Premiere, or similar)
- Familiarity with major social platforms and basic design tools (Canva or similar)
- Genuine commitment to child development, digital wellness, or education advocacy
- Organized, self-directed, and able to work independently in a hybrid environment
